85% Cabernet Franc/15% Pineau d'Aunis. Valérie Forgue's are planted on clay-limestone soils in the heart of the Cher valley of the Touraine region in the Loire Valley. She farms them organically (soon to be certified) and harvests them by hand. 2017 is the first vintage of the Glasting rosé, which arose as a result of a very tough vintage, with reduced yields and difficulty in ripening; it is a blend of direct-press Cabernet Franc from 40-year-old vines and saignée Pineau d'Aunis from 100+-year-old vines (which she typically sells to her neighbor Thierry Puzelat of Clos du Tue Boeuf). Fermentation took place in tanks with indigenous yeasts; the wine is bottled without fining or filtering. "Glasting" is in reference to a fairy of the same name, chosen by Valérie as a whimsical name, since it is classified as a Vin de France and thus cannot show any estate or vineyard name, grape, region or vintage on the label.
