At Domaine Dureuil-Janthial, wine-making begins in the vineyard. Eschewing pesticides and inorganic fertilizers and employing many practices typically seen only in more prestigious locales, young Vincent Dureuil is one of Rully's rising (in fact, already risen) stars and is surely one of the premier examples of great young winemakers making their mark in historically under-sung Burgundy appellations. At this address, considerable effort goes into ploughing and earthing-up before the growing season begins. If necessary, the vines are trimmed back over the growing season to reduce soil-humidity prior to the harvest and prevent fungal rot. Picking and sorting is meticulous and is done entirely by hand.
