"Mau Feitio, is a Douro DOC blend born from a collaboration between renowned oenologist and Portuguese wine historian, Virgílio Loureiro, and High Douro vineyard owner and winemaker Jorge Lourenço. Lourenço's family had previously sold fruit grown on several parcels until Jorge took over stewardship at the age of 18 years old.
Under the banner of Virgílio Lourenço, Jorge manages a total of 40 hectares with vines ranging from 18 years to 80 years old and nowadays produces and bottles all his wines.
Loureiro and Lourenço shared the common goal of producing a High Douro red and white wine that could express the enormous potential of the Mêda region rather than fall into the critical expectation and norm Douro DOC often showing rich round and overloaded wines.
Mau Feitio Branco, a blend of two of the most significant white grapes in Douro region, Viosinho and Rabigato, fermentd seperatly but all sourced from the higher and cooler locations, is spiced with a small amount of Malvasia Fina."
