100% Teroldego. Teroldego is a close relative of Lagrein and native to the Südtirol as well. Nusserhof only has 10 rows of it, averaging 30 years old and yielding very small amounts of wine (for example: 700 bottles in 2012). The vines are organically farmed and harvested by hand. Fermentation is with native yeasts and up to 30% whole clusters; maceration is several weeks. Unlike Nusserhof's other reds, the Teroldego is aged in used Burgundy barriques instead of botti, but for a similar length as the others: at least 2.5 years in wood followed by years in bottle. The name "Ty..." is short for Tyroldego. Nusserhof opts for Vino Rosso classification for the wine and thus cannot name the variety or vintage outright on the label; the vintage is indicated as a lot number in fine print.
